654A Cardioid Microphone

CABLE CONNECTIONS

The 654A Microphone is shipped with the cable wired for balanced operation. To change cable wiring for unbalanced operation, connect the black lead to the shield with a jumper wire at the amplifier end of the cable.

The cable supplied with the microphone is provided with an XLR-3 type audio plug on the amplifier end of the cable. If conversion to a standard phone plug is desired, unsolder the wires from this plug and re-solder the wires to the phone plug. Solder the black lead and the shield together at the sleeve terminal of the phone plug.

NOTE: The shield (pin 1) of all Altec Lansing microphone cables is strapped to the XLR shell (pin 4). The shell can be easily isolated from the cable shield by simply cutting away the strap at both ends.
