ANTENNA CONSIDERATIONS

The antennas used with the receiver of a wireless system are one of the most important parts of the system. They are also one of the most overlooked parts of the system and are frequently the cause of unnecessary problems. Proper location of the receiver antennas is vitally important to making the system perform well.
The whip antennas supplied with the 7500B-B are usually connected directly to the receiver are adequate for most installations. When the distance between the receiver and the transmitter (microphone) is 200 to 400 feet ( 60 to 120 meters) or less, and the path between the receiver and transmitter is clear and unobstructed line of sight, good results are usually obtained with the whip antennas connected onto the receiver.
However, other types of antennas may be needed for unusual applications such as operating at extreme ranges of 500 feet (150 meters) or more. TV antennas (with an appropriate matching transformer) are often used for this purpose. A "high-band" wide-bandwidth yagi antennas (Winegard K5-713 or equivalent) works well for this application.

The 7500B-B systems are available with the 7501A, 7502A or 7503A microphones, or purchased without any microphone. Furthermore, the 7500B-B offers eight frequencies in the range between 169 and 189 MHz. The frequencies assigned to the microphones you purchase are based on the geographic location in which the microphone(s) will be used and how many microphones are to be used together in your sound system. At the time ofordering, the Altec Lansing Sound Contractor will require specific information from the purchaser regarding the location in which the microphone systems will be used. Using this information, he will contact the Altec Lansing factory. Using a sophisticated computer program, they will make a selection of the most suitable frequencies for your location.
The following information will be needed:
• Microphone preferred with system - 7501A, 7502A, 7503A or none.
• Geographic location of user - City and State.
• A List of the channel assignments of ALL television stations broadcasting in that city.
• A List of frequencies for any other wireless systems used in this installation.
